Flooding problem in the formal gardens

Friends of Longford Park have urged Trafford Council to find solutions to the problem. A contractor has been appointed, who this week began a major attempt to pump the excess water away. By the time the picture was taken on Friday, just two or three pools remained. The contractor will shortly be installing a new pump and raised switchgear, which it is hoped will reduce the flooding risk. The problem has led to the discovery that the well in the area turns out to be a much larger feature, possibly an underground reservoir. The Council tell us that ‘One Trafford are in the process of engaging an engineering team to uncover exactly what we have under the ground’. The flooding has coincided with further damage to the ornamental walls in the area. The Council has appointed a contractor, who will be repairing the walls at the start of the New Year.
