Community Cycling Club

Friends of Longford Park Community Cycling Club is a community initiative to encourage more people to cycle in and around Stretford.

Cycling is a fun and healthy way of getting around.

We arrange cycle rides of varying difficulty and lengths to encourage people to explore their local area by bike and provide regular opportunities for people to ride together along these routes.

It is easy to get involved - just contact us or turn up and complete one of membership forms. Once you have joined you can take part in one of our the community cycle rides. If you don’t have a bike we can lend you one (and a helmet) for a small charge.

BMX Mini Track

We have a friend who is currently looking into the viability of devleoping a BMX track within the park.

Longford BMX are a local community group working to build a Mini BMX Track (aka Pump Track) within the grounds of Longford Park, South Manchester.

The Greater Manchester area has recently became a hub for BMX riding and racing, with 3 full sized BMX tracks within the borough as well as the £24mil Indoor facility at the National Cycling Centre.

Although there are lots of larger BMX tracks and skate parks within the region we feel bringing a more accessible Mini BMX Track to South Manchester would bring many positive benefits to the community.

Starting on a balance bike at ages as young as 2 these facilities have a proven track record reducing anti social behavior (giving youngsters somewhere to go and have fun) as well as increasing cycling skills, fitness and wellbeing.

They have set an facebook page up to promote their idea and engage with the local community. For more information please visit https://en-gb.facebook.com/longfordbmx/
