PDGA Longford Open Event Info

The Longford Open is a one day, C tier PDGA / BDGA tournament powered by Manchester Disc Golf. This will be a fundraising event for the club as we are looking at building new courses around the Greater Manchester area.

The tournament will consist of 2 round of 18 holes at Longford Park Disc Golf Course in Stretford, Greater Manchester M21 9TA and will be capped at 90 players. Any entries after 90 will go on a wait list.

This tournament will be held on Saturday, May 22nd and will be played on the normal layout of our Longford Park course and will cost £15 per person. The first round will be on the red course and the second will be on the blue course for all divisions except FA2-4, MA4 and Junior will play reds both rounds. We will be assigning tee times and golf starts to keep groups small and to adhere to social distancing. You will play with the same group for both rounds and I can group players on cards with friends if possible. PDGA live scoring will be used. No lunch will be provided. There will be trophies and some prizes for the winners.

We will see what Covid restrictions are in place and plan and change things accordingly. There will be a virtual player’s meeting and virtual caddybooks.

Registration will run in 3 entry tiers.

The first tier is open to WOMEN ONLY as we hope to increase female participation in events. (opens 22-3-2021)

The next tier will open to Manchester Disc Golf Club members a week later. (29-3-2021)

Finally, the last tier will invite any player to sign up the following week. (5-4-2021)

If you try to register before your available tier, it won’t be considered at that time and you will have to complete the form again. You can join the club on our website or by buying an MDG bag tag for £5 :

As long as there are 3 players in a division, it will go forward.

However, only MPO, FPO, MP40, MP50, FA2, MA40, MA2, and MA3 will be offered BDGA Tour points towards championships. Please think about this before entering a division. If you want to qualify, you need to join the BDGA before the tournament, as I don’t think you can be given points retroactively. Renew or join for £10 here:

If this is your first tournament, haven’t been playing very long or don’t have a pdga rating (850 rating is approximately a round of 57 or even par on the Longford Park Red course), you probably should enter one of the divisions marked with an * (FA3, FA4, MA4, MA40, MA50)
